The retreat building stands on 3.9 acres of land near the small town of Coldspring, Texas. Coldspring is on the eastern edge of Sam Houston National Forest and just a few miles south of Lake Livingston, the third largest lake in Texas. This also places us 65 miles north of Houston and 30 miles east of Huntsville and Conroe. We couldn’t have picked a better place for a retreat. Minimum:  15 guests            Maximum:  24 guests

 

Amenities Include:

 

µ       Large work room—56’ x 22’

µ       Good lighting and plenty of electrical outlets.  There are power strips attached to the tables at each workspace.

µ       Two cutting tables/mats

µ       Two regular and one large ironing board

µ       One wall in the work room is equipped to hang your quilt tops; the opposite wall is a foam-backed, felt covered design wall (200 square feet of space) to arrange your blocks

µ       A drive through makes it convenient to unload and load your supplies (particularly in bad weather)

µ       Four dormitory style bedrooms with twin beds (no bunks) and compartments for your belongings

µ       Two large bathrooms

µ       Snack table, plus a refrigerator for your cold drinks

µ       Coffee and tea available at all times

µ       A dining room to accommodate 24 guests

µ       All meals are served family style

 

Rates for 2008:

 

Standard two-day retreat per person

     2 nights lodging

     6 meals

     $140.00 plus tax  = $150.85 per person

An extra day (without meals) may be added for a three-day retreat per person

     3 nights lodging

     6 meals

     $180.00 plus tax = $193.95 per person

We are Charles and Janet Watson. As the owners and operators of the Red Barn Retreat, we welcome you to enjoy with us our little piece of heaven. We began operation of the retreat in September 2003 after purchasing the facility from the owners who launched the business, gave the retreat a fabulous beginning and then decided to start a well deserved retirement.  This is a dream come true for us.  We are enjoying the opportunity to meet some wonderful people.
