A QUILT FOR A RETREAT PROJECT INSTRUCTIONS:

 

The Red Barn Retreat is announcing a program to replace all the plastic bed covers in the retreat bedrooms with quilts.  We’ve actually been thinking about this for about a year and talking to some of you for several months, and now, it’s time to get started.  Basically, we are offering to exchange a free weekend retreat (two days and nights) for a twin-size quilt.  The object is to cover each of our 24 beds with a quilt, eliminating entirely the plastic dust covers.  In order to exercise some control over this process, we have come up with a set of rules:

 

1.   Only one quilt will be accepted per person as payment for a retreat.

2.   Quilts can be made by an individual, a group or even the entire group.  How you divide the free retreat is up to you.

3.   A maximum of 2 quilts can be accepted per retreat.

4.   The retreat coordinator will be responsible for informing us of the intent to use a quilt (or 2) as payment at the time that full payment is made (30 days prior to the retreat), along with the name of the quilter.  We can accept a limited number of quilts, so the coordinator needs to submit the names of the quilters as soon as possible.

5.   The quilt must be finished and presented at the scheduled retreat.

6.   The quilt may be of any design or color at the quilter’s discretion, but must be made of quilt-store quality fabric, must be washable and must be made with pre-washed fabric.

7.   The quilt must be 72” x 96” (or as close as possible) for uniformity.

8.   The quilt must be labeled with the maker’s name.

9.   When we decide we have enough quilts we will inform the coordinators.

 

 These quilts will be used only in The Red Barn Retreat and for no other purpose.
